I've decided I like working more than playing....is that bad?

I saw a friend recently and she said to blog about what is going on in your life but, the truth is I really like to WORK.  I have no kiddo's and I like seeing a box of vintage get photographed and listed and put into a box and shipped off to somewhere, usually the east or west coast.  This little find of these lace up GLOVES made me Swooooon!  How darling are they!!!!!  My Mom and I organized and ran an estate sale for her little neighbor Betty (she was 92) and these were Bettie's.  Everything she had was well taken care of.  She was an antiques dealer and was active until the day she passed.  A true picker to the end. 

 

Tying the KNOT

My niece Jennifer is getting married this weekend (isn't she cute!) and she is sooooo excited.  I love when a young couple is this excited to start their life together.  She is having an outdoor wedding and so far the weather looks like it is going to be perfect.

 



 

She chose to use silk flowers and we picked these beauties out a couple of months ago.  I really enjoy doing wedding flowers for people that I love.  ps. they are so pretty in person. 

 

 

The brides are all using burlap these days.  Mason jars, twigs etc.  It's going to be sweet!!!!

Thinking of Moore, Oklahoma.....

 

My nephew Mark Elkins signed a contract to work at a HVAC company in Oklahoma last year.  The day of the devastating tornado he found himself in Moore, OK.  He could tell it was getting bad as he arrived to the customers house.  When he got to the door the woman pulled him into the house and put a motorcycle helmet on his head.  They rode the storm out along with her husband and 2 small dogs.  This picture reminds of his description of where they were.  He said when it was over they went outside and saw the destruction. Their house was standing but a few houses away were devastated.  They had damage but, not complete devastation.  He said his truck was covered in pink insulation and mud.  Debris was everywhere.   Power lines down, and highways closed.  He found his way back to (home) Norman another suburb of Oklahoma City.  Mark and his girlfriend Emily are packing up to move home in 9 days.  The places where they ate and played (bowling alley) are gone.  I will be glad to have him home.  He's been away too long....(drum and bugle corp,boot camp, college,officers training, 2 tours in Iraq,OK)(like my kid) My heart goes out to all the people affected by this horrible Tornado.  Living in the Midwest we always know it is possible.....

 It's a SIGN !!!

 I was asked by the Cafe that I hung my last show in to make signs for their restrooms.  So today I did.  The owner is going to paint an off white stripe on the door and then hang the sign in the middle.  I think it is going to look great! 

 

It's the 10th year anniversary for The Legends Cafe on Washington Street in Irvington  just east of Downtown Indianapolis this May.  Stop in for good food and well great restroom SIGNS :) !



My little GREAT nephew

I saw my niece and nephew grow from tiny babies but, that was 25 plus years ago...I am amazed how fast they grow now :) He is LOVED by many....

 

it was a CRAZY CRAZY yard sale

 My Mom and I have a yard sale every year and every year I say to her let's npt do it next year and she says oh but, I enjoy it.  It seems like every year we have a reason to have a sale.  This year was no exception.  My Mom (Sue) is a care giver to a woman my age who is not healthy and has very little.  note* my Mom is someone who has always taken care of people .  Sue's care reciever is getting a handicapped apartment and Sue and my step dad Jim (I helped one Saturday) and others have cleaned out her storage unit and now will be moving her next week.  So we had a lot to sell.  Plus I went from 2 antique spaces to 1.  I have a friend who is organizing and down sizing and we always throw in my nieces stuff.  This year was the biggest SALE ever.  The garage was packed and we used 3/4 of her driveway and a tent.

The craziest part of the sale besides doing it for 3 days.  Is that we had high winds, flurries, rain and cold temperatures.  It is the Midwest, we could have flurries into May but, we had just had the best weather a week before.  What is crazy still is people came even in the wind, rain, cold, flurries...it was the most we have ever sold at a sale.  We Hoosiers are ready for spring and garage sale season.  Since we still have so much of Sue's care recievers stuff I am doing it again this coming Thursday. THen the leftovers will be donated.  Wish me LUCK!  I want blue skies and at least 60 degrees!!!
