More Harrison Center show.

December has flown by for me. I can't believe it is already Dec. 8th. Where do I start...first of all let me say I really do appreciate all those who have come to my shows and openings this last month. Also, a few people rallied around when Ed was in the hospital for 5 plus days over Thanksgiving and helped me with some errands and glass cleaning etc. so I could meet all of my deadlines for the shows. I am thankful!
I wanted to show the other Garage Artist Society members work that is hanging at the Harrison Center in downtown Indianapolis through Dec. 26th.
Gallery No.2 on Opening Night.

Part of my ABC series.

People reading my little ABC series of "26 un-related stories" all featuring (a) letter.

I drug Ed out of the house after the opening (which he stayed home from) to a party. This is our friend's house all decked out. We haven't decorated yet. Hoping to soon.

We were greeted by Santa and Buddy the Elf. Hysterical !

And the lovely Suzanne.

Legend CAFE work in Irvington, Indiana

In just a couple of minutes I will be walking to the Legend Cafe located just a short walk from where Ed and I are living. They are featuring my work for 2 months. Tonight I have invited folks to come and have dinner or a drink and see my little series on Irvington. It is such a lovely town. I feel that Ed and I have found our "hood". So I made work with a nod to the neighborhood. This is one of 8 in my series. If you are in the area stop by it is up through Janurary.

Preview of ABC show coming to a gallery near you...

I have been working on my ABC series for an upcoming show in Gallery No. 2 at the Harrison Center here in Indy which opens December 4th. I am not done but I am making good progress. Hope you can come to the opening.

Ed and I are so blessed...

Ed and I have the best nieces and nephews. This is HEATH Schlatter (Ed's side of the family)with his Scout Master. This past Sunday he became an Eagle Scout. Only 2% of all Scouts achieve this rank. Heath is one of those kids that is really easy to love. He is also an entertainer at heart. Congratulations HEATH! We are PROUD of you!

All dressed up and some place to go.

I bought a wedding gown at a thrift store size 10 and cut it up and sewed it onto a t-shirt to make the whole outfit work. I decided to go as the GOTH Bride of Frankenstein. Thought I would share a close up. I am not very photogenic. Always smiling crooked or my head is the wrong angle so my favorite pose to discourage the double chin.
I have so much art and goodies to make for 6 events before the holidays. SO I will be in my studio with my nose to the grindstone for several weeks. Wish me luck!

Halloween in Irvington, INDIANA

There is this old neighborhood just east of downtown INDIANAPOLIS that has this history of ghosts and crazy happenings through the years. Well, Ed and I moved here last Feb. not because of the ghosts but because of the homes, sidewalks, closer to basic shopping (girl needs a close JoAnn Fabrics, come on!). So since we live here we were able to experience Halloween in the style of Irvington. It starts off in the early hours of the day with a bon fire and breakfast sharing outside. We chatted and ate homemade breakfast casserole, pumpkin bread and little sausages from the grill. Meeting folks and their pups. Char is a great neighbor and feels like an old friend, with one of our neighbors dogs. He has beautiful BLUE eyes.
Then the RUN begins. This is outside of our Rental. Such a view. Notice within 6 days the leaves have almost all fallen. But, I had to come home....still dealing with my toe issues. We stood out there cheering on all the age groups and walkers and runners alike. FUN!

Then we met well, NICK a waiter at the Legend restaurant. He was a horny Priest all in FUN. We had a great meal with friends. I had pumpkin RAVIOLI with spinach and sweet potatoes and other delicious flavors on top. It was so good.

Beth and Ron came as International Travelers. Beth from Russia and Ron from FRANCE. They left our company :( and went on a 2 hour walking ghost tour of the area. They are long time Irvingtonians.
We then went to a party of a local and their house was decorated so cute. Of course I was too busy making sure my wig didn't hit something and stayed erect that I forgot to use my camera. Her porch was almost magical. I forgot to mention that my fore head hurts still. WIG too tight!!!

This is Suzanne as Egor, me well Bride of Frankenstein, PAUL well Frankie and aka The LIFE of the PARTY and my husband the MAD scientist (which is his day job too!) I have been sick with whatever is going around and had to muster up the strength to attend all of these events. I had to make a drug store run in the middle of our night. The show must go on !!! We stopped by another local wine bar before heading off to see the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW which by that time I was miserable and swear I feel asleep at some point. But, it was a really great night and Suzanne and Paul are such good sports. Going over and above on their costumes. What will Halloween 2010 bring?

THe LEAVES oh the leaves!

If you know anything about the Midwest you know we love our FALL colors! I guess that could be said for any place that has Maples, Fire bushes and Tulip trees etc. I took this photo from my front door. Just love it! It is my favorite time of the year. I love anything pumpkin, squash, persimmons, apple cider and well all those great fall colors. I can't forget Halloween. I almost have our costumes ready. Should be a great time.
So go grab a jug of cider and take it all in.

Toesies Woesies

I don't think I have shared my latest pair of shoes. I am one of those people who spends .50 cents on a shirt at the church thrift and then I will pay $100- on a pair of shoes. I have to, horrible feet so that is where my money goes. I had my toe nail procedure on Thursday and WOW it hit me last night. The pain hit me. So I spent today all glassy eyed on pain killer. Who knew this would happen. Anyway I am still wearing flip flops. I hope it heals before the snow comes! :) These shoes are by Alegria Shoes. No one carries them in my area so I ordered online. I want more!!!

Etsy listings

I thought I should list something more artsy after those toes. I am surprised that they do not hurt. But, I did have some kind of reaction to the shots. Just couldn't do anything yesterday. The weather didn't help.

So....I have listed these 3 dolls on etsy and I have 3 more to go. I really enjoyed making them this summer and I have drug them to a couple of shows but now before they are shop worn I hope someone will give them a good home via etsy.
They are all weighted with rice so they can stand on there own. Wool hair. Some vintage aspects on each doll. Until next time....

I know I know TMI

This is what my chubby feet look like after I went to the poditrist for some nail issues. I did get to pick the tape color. Needless to say I will not have any more issues with those nails. I won't be a foot model either. Not too much pain. Yet!

Wanna Trade?

A blogger friend Heather Sleightholm from Oklahoma had asked about the big stuffed pillows that I make and I said let's TRADE! So I got one of Heather's wonderful mixed media paintings from her flapper girl series. "Forever Jeanne". For now she sits on top of a dresser that I have in my dining room along with a folk art piece of carved birds and some of my favorite bowls. I just love having her in my collection. I am living through Jeanne since I would never get a tatoo of my own but love that she has one. Thanks Heather! I love it.

New Merchandise

I have been so covered up working to get stuff made for the show or just not in a place where blogging came easy. But, I have just finished 2 art fairs in a row. The next one is this coming Saturday in Rocky Ripple by Butler University from 11am to 6pm. So if you are in the area come and see me. These are some new products. They aren't on etsy. I have so much merchandise right now thinking about listing on etsy is overwhelming. So I am listing a little at a time. After this weekends show is over this will all go to BE Salon on Ft. Wayne Avenue in downtown Indianapolis. Feel free to email me for more information. Wall of plates. $25- each or 2 for $40-. Most of them have a little phrase like"Hot toast makes the butterfly" or my favorite "Beans, beans, the musical fruit". Each one is covered with Resin. Adjustable RINGS $12- each with my images on them. Eash one is covered with Resin for long life.
My friend and owner of BE Salon gave me some wallpaper swatches that a client gave him. Well my mom and I were scratching our heads....what can we make out of this??? Doubled stick tape doesnt stick to it and glue is a mess so I scrapped using them for collage...and then it hit me. Some sort of purse. So a wallet it is. Sewn with the sewing machine. Velcro closure button for good looks. $4- each. SAVE THE PLANET!

Selling things on EBAY

The things we do. Right now I am listing a bunch of things for a neighbor who is moving from her home here in Irvington. She was a DOLL maker and through the years has lost her eye sight. Which is so sad. Anyway these items are all on eBay under my seller name which is Magic317. If you are interested please let me know. The March Sisters starting bid for all is $24.95 and the Presidents are $14.95. She is also selling this Fabulous Vintage Gas Stove which is all intact and the starting bid is $200- I have seen then re-stored online for thousands of dollars. I will be listing 40 years or LIFE magazines for her as well over time. Besides that she has a dining room full of Furniture to sell. I will give a better back story to my involvement as time goes by.
The Sweet little MARCH girls.

Abe and Mary Todd Licnoln - I guess I posed them sort of seductively
. Sorry, honest ABE!

Martha and George Washington - they look so happy together!

Finally 100% !

I got my computer back but then nothing had been downloaded. Like my picture programs and of course nothing seems to go smoothly or is simple. So finally yesterday I am BACK! So happy to be here. So, much has taken place since my absense. I am not sure I can go back only forward. I will say I shared and enjoyed a simple meal with friends yesterday. Visual FRINGE is over as of yesterday. (it was a part of the FRINGE festival here in Indy. I was in charge of hanging about 100 pieces of art in 6 different venues) I learned that I need to start saying NO to almost everything like that because it keeps me from working. So, onto the next set of shows that are coming up this FALL. I am working everyday. I just wish I could clone my productive self for the days that I am not. I think my clone is my Mother she keeps me motivated for sure. She is great help. Okay, so this piece is for SALE $125- I think it is 16" x 20" and framed in a wide black frame. It was the piece I made for Visual FRINGE. She is juggling everything even chickens but don't we all seem to juggling?
